A University of Chicago research of a decade of information formed on interviews with 13,614 grandparents, ages 50 and older, finds that 61% of grandparents supposing during slightest 50 hours a year of caring for grandchildren during slightest one year between 1998 and 2008; 70% supposing caring for dual years or more. The information are from a longitudinal consult collected each dual years given 1992 by a university’s National Opinion Research Center. Findings are in a Journal of Family Issues.
“We took people who didn’t live with their grandchildren and looked during how many hours of caring they provide,” says sociologist Linda Waite, a co-author of a study.
